Studio Information

Private music lessons are a collaborative effort where continual communication and practice result in successful achievements. All studio policies are chosen to provide the best possibility for a student’s success. Regular lesson attendance is required. Ample Workshop opportunities exist to supplement weekly lessons. In addition to student-only Studio activities, there is a Winter Recital and Spring Recital for families to attend. Students are also invited to participate in area competitions, as appropriate, with the various MSMTA and MCMTA music association events. High School students comprise a special category wherein they may elect to participate in the MSMTA High School Piano Examination. Students are also chosen to play in area care facilities. In all student categories, chamber music accompanying and piano ensemble performance is encouraged. The Mattingly Studio also engages professional artists in Studio concerts affording students closer insights into the life and work of professionals.

Adults comprise a large part of my student population. Special Workshops are scheduled throughout the year to provide general instruction, performance outlets and social exchanges. Many adult students share their work with the community at large, choosing to present informal programs to area retirement communities. Adult lessons are scheduled around work and family responsibilities with a more relaxed attendance policy.

The Mattingly Studio prepares students through collaborative teaching, which includes work with a staff vocal instructor and area professional music instructors. Professional chamber music coaching is also available as our Studio cooperates with an established neighboring violin studio. Services also include consultations with private and public educational professionals to design academic programs for students with special needs.
