Private online music lessons are a collaborative effort where continual communication and practice result in successful achievements.
All studio policies are chosen to provide the best possibility for a student’s success. Regular lesson attendance is required. In addition to student-only Studio activities, there is a Winter Recital and Spring Recital for families to attend virtually. Students are also invited to participate in area competitions, as appropriate, with the various MTNA, KCMTA, KMTA, MSMTA, and MCMTA music association events.
High School students comprise a special category wherein they may elect to participate in the High School Piano Examination. Students are also chosen to play in area care facilities.
In all student categories, chamber music accompanying and piano ensemble performance is encouraged.
Adults comprise a large part of my student population.
Special Workshops are scheduled throughout the year to provide general instruction, performance outlets and social exchanges.
Many adult students share their work with the community at large, choosing to present informal programs to area retirement communities.
Adult lessons are scheduled around work and family responsibilities with a more relaxed attendance policy.
The Mattingly Studio prepares students through collaborative teaching, which includes work with a staff vocal instructor and area professional music instructors. Professional chamber music coaching is also available. Services also include consultations with private and public educational professionals to design academic programs for students with special needs.
I have begun to work with piano teachers nationwide to observe, coach and support their piano lessons. I am available to provide commentary and direction and assist in preparing lesson plans, as well as co-teaching to guide new as well as experienced instructors to improve their teaching techniques. Online support is provided through recorded as well as real time sessions with teacher and student present.
