At Mattingly Studio, I offer in person and online piano lessons for both children and adults from my studio located in the Kansas City metro area. Students can arrange sessions online which will be instructed over Zoom. Even when taught online, students have an opportunity to grow in an environment that encourages interaction with the musical world around them. I hope to bring my love of music to my students.

Students who want to take piano lessons online with Mattingly Studio will need to meet a few requirements for a successful lesson.
While these are the base requirements, some students who own keyboards find using headphones helpful as it provides additional sound clarity.
Some students also connect their keyboard’s audio output directly to their computer to increase sound quality for the instructor, however this is not required for a successful lesson.
It is important to have clear, consistent communication with the piano instructor. Some students may consider purchasing a speaker or Bluetooth connected earbuds such as Airpods to connect to their device if they have difficulty hearing from a distance.
It is very important for students to have their music stand properly illuminated. However, it is recommended to have the light source behind the device (smartphone, tablet, or laptop) to avoid glares from the light.
Online classes will be conducted through Zoom Video Communication software. The student will only be required to sign up for a free account and installation is easy on just about any device!

Doris Mattingly is an online and traditional piano and music teacher with over 40 years of experience and a plethora of musical accomplishments. Ms. Mattingly educates students under her degrees in Piano Performance and Voice from Catholic University, studying with Emerson Meyers and George Manos - known as the President’s Pianist. She has conducted many musical events around the Washington D.C. metropolitan area, established the Opera Program at the Duke Ellington School and taught music and music theater to high school students.
